about

For those who are curious:

I'm not sure if any of this is going to make sense but I want to try to explain the thoughts behind my use of the IPA in ˈlɪm(p)fgɹid.
I used the International Phonetic Alphabet because ultimately I find that it is the most transparent way of conveying the sound of the words. Each title is poetically meaningful and, in terms of the music, contextually relevant, but I wanted them to be universal. That said, not many people understand the IPA... it takes some effort to crack the code. I actually wrote all of the titles phonetically as I would say them, so it's as personal as it can get. Each word has its own sound, sound made from my body. My body enabled me to create the album.

ˈlɪm(p)fgɹid is the phonetic spelling of 'lymphgrid'. The lymph is a metaphor for the flow of energy, and the grid is our anatomy. Because the music was improvisational and process-driven, the body is important, because it represents nature. I don't make decisions, musically - it's not a mental process. Instead I am driven directly by nature; I am taken through the lymph of nature, into its anatomy. This is a recurring theme in my art (the cover represents this concept). So the IPA now becomes relevant again because in a way it acts as the anatomical description of a spoken word.

Anyway, I hope some of that makes sense. If ever I get a physical copy of the album made, the titles will be deciphered inside. For now, I hope you enjoy the music.
